Recognizing and Optimizing Skill Fluency

I had a recent experience that took me by complete surprise. One of my goals for this podcast is to help people recognize skills that they otherwise take for granted.

I was shocked to realize how fluent I USED to be in a skill when I practiced law 20 years ago. At the time, I truly had no idea how valuable it was because I thought all lawyers were decent at it. (We all know there is no shortage of lawyers).

I haven't needed these skills since I left the practice of law 18 years ago but I may have pursued opportunities to market them in a way that fit my lifestyle had I not taken them for granted.

I hope by sharing the story, you'll look at the skills you deploy on a daily basis in a new way.

Discreet Skill Discussed on the Show

This is a short episode in which I discuss how I realized my proficiency in a skill nearly two decades after I used it on a daily basis. I didn't even mention on the show how this recent experience also made me realize how fluent I used to be in the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure.
